Resolution #1 for 2010....Blog!

Like many others, I think I let 2009 get the best of me! I just got overwhelmed by all of the changes in my life and my poor little blog took a serious back seat. So my #1 resolution for 2010 is to blog again. It may not be thought provoking or even happen all that often, but I enjoy my little blog and want to keep it up for posterity sake. As for the remainder of my New Year's resolutions, I am resolving to...

1. Stop caring! Seriously. I want to stop focusing on people that do not matter and focus on the ones that do. I'm tired of giving and giving only to have those who take never give back. Pretty much I'm tired of feeling taken advantage of.

2. Save, save, save. As hard as it is to believe, I'm going to have a kid going to college in about 8 years, and he wants to go to the University of Texas with his second choice being TCU. He's a smart boy so I have no reason to think that he won't be accepted into one of his colleges of choice, both very expensive options. To make his college dreams a reality, we need to be building the college fund a little more quickly, which means no new car, less eating out, and basically less frivolous spending.

3. Get healthy with my family. Everyone who knows me well knows that I'm in pretty good shape. I'm not thin, never have been and never will be, but I'm healthy. I eat relatively well and exercise faithfully, at least 4-5 days a week. My goal for this year is to get my boys in the same mode. Cole is pretty athletic and never really sits still, but I want him to understand the importance of daily exercise and especially the importance of putting healthy fuel in your body.

4. Work out with Ron. This ties in to number 3, but it was getting a little long so I decided what the heck and went for a 4th resolution. Ron and I are going to start P90 together. His cardiologist and I are hoping that he will learn to enjoy exercise as much as I do.

I am actually going to try to use this blog to help keep us accountable on our P90 journey. I'm planning to blog how I did eating and which workouts we do each day, etc., so it may get a little more boring than normal around here. Just a warning!

Happy 2010!!

Quote of the Day

"No, Mom, I'm not sick, this is how I sound now. I think my voice is starting to change."

Ack! He's only 10. Surely his voice isn't starting to get deep already? I'm so not ready for that! He is just a little boy, right? I need for him to stay my little boy for just a couple of more years, okay?

How Can You Resist This Face??

And those curls??? This is Ethan.

He is my good friend Rebecca's nephew, and his Mom is my blogging buddy Tiburon. Ethan has Type 1 diabetes and his Mom is going to be riding in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation's Ride to Cure Diabetes this summer. I know the economy is in the tank and money is tight for everyone right now, but if you are looking for a good cause to support -- and it's tax deductible folks! -- please consider throwing a few dollars Tib's way. This cutie pie deserves a life free of diabetes!

Before and After: Grey's Wrap

Before I get into my wrap of this week's show, let me just preface it by saying how much I really didn't like last week. At. All! I didn't like how it was billed as a crossover. (It wasn't!) I didn't like any of the storylines. I hated how unresolved everything was left. I hated the overly slow cheesey Christina and Owen interludes. I just hated it! Now with that out of my system, on to this week.

Things I Liked
1. "She is not a mid-life crisis. She is the real thing!" Yes, Derek. She is! My most favorite line of the whole show. And I liked the mature Meredith. She handled Derek's old med school crew being there just great and I liked hearing her tell Sadie that she loved her life at Seattle Grace.

2. I loved seeing Addison back with the Seattle Grace crew. I like Private Practice, but after seeing Addie back in Seattle, I'm thinking I want PP to be cancelled so she can come back home. She just fits there. She's got friends and history. Bring Addison home!

3. I liked the med school crew catch up's and reminiscing in Archer's room. I liked getting some history on my favorite characters from both shows.

4. Mark wuvs Lexie!

5. George got some screentime, which makes me very happy. I love me some George and wish the writers would give him a storyline.

6. Don't faint, but I actually liked Izzie. I know she's being all freaky crazy girl now, but I liked the game that she put together for the interns. She taught in a creative way -- what a novelty at Seattle Grace -- and her game made the interns tolerable for me this week.

7. Alex and Addison. I always liked them together when Addie was on Grey's and I was glad to see Alex expressing some reservations about Izzie. Yet another reason to bring Addison back to Grey's, a new love interest for Alex.

8. Bailey. She was back to being the Bailey that I love this week. I really enjoyed her interaction with Sam. And I do think she would be a great peds surgeon

Things I Didn't Like
1. Pregnant anuerysm lady. Last week I cared a little bit about her and her husband. This week? She just got on my nerves. I won't tell you all what I was really thinking about her in the second hour of the crossover, lest you all think I'm a heartless wench.

2. The Private Practice portion of the evening. I like the show but found myself really annoyed in the second hour when they would switch back to Oceanside Wellness crew. I didn't care what was happening there, I wanted to be back in Seattle.

3. Owen. The boy has got big problems. He hasn't even told his mother that he's back from Iraq? Oy!! I still want to see him with Christina, but man do they have some stuff to work through first. I did like what he told her at the end about how she doesn't look at him like he's broken, or however it was he put it. I don't remember the phrase, but I do remember that I liked it.

4. I still am not buying Callie as a lesbian, and I am not happy they are making Arizona her love interest. Callie needs different hair too. Not liking the bangs on her.

Things I Just Didn't Care About
1. Sadie. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out, loser.

Grey's Wrap...Or Not

For the past two days I've been writing and re-writing the Grey's wrap and it just didn't feel right. And today it hit me. I'm not ready to write anything yet! ABC promoted the heck out of the Grey's/Private Practice crossover, right? And I am a fan of both shows so I was really looking forward to Thursday night. Well guess what? There was no crossover! Thursday night sucked and I don't have much positive to say. So I am going to wait until the actual crossover happens, which based on previews happens next week, and I'll right a wrap of the whole thing then. Until then I'm going to do what my Mom always told me and that was if I couldn't say any thing nice, just don't say anything.

I'm Sorry...So Sorry

This morning Cole's mouth got him in a bit of trouble. While spending time in his room contemplating the right way to behave, he apparently got an idea. I was walking by his room and found a piece of paper that had been pushed out under his door...

"Whoever picks up this very piece of paper, whether it is you Mom or you Dad, I want to apologize. I'm very ashamed at myself because I treated you with no respect at all. Please forgive me for my actions. Your very loving son, Cole Ousley, Age 10. PS...I love you both!"

The note didn't get him out of serving his punishment but it definitely got a smile out of us!
