Stairway to Heaven: Grey's Wrap
Overall a pretty strong episode. I am kind of starting to get back the love that I had for Grey's when it was a really good mix of drama with a little comedy thrown in for good measure back in seasons one and two. I feel like it's hitting it's stride again, and I hope it stays that way because I'm mostly enjoying it right now.
Things I Liked
1. Meredith. Ellen Pompeo just owned this entire episode. She and Eric Stolz were all kinds of awesome together. I really loved the whole serial killer storyline and this episode sealed that for me. She was amazing in the final scene and totally sold me on the conflicting feelings that Meredith had, wanting to be compassionate to the killer but knowing how Derek felt. She just hit it out of the park!
2. Jackson got his organs and it seems like he is going to be okay. Being a mom to a 10 year old boy just made this whole story hit way too close to home. I just sobbed when it looked like Jackson was going to die, and I sobbed some more when he got his organs and woke up. What a hard story to watch.
3. Derek. I loved that he showed up at the prison for Meredith. I liked that he knew to take Meredith to Christina when she wouldn't stop crying. He is showing me every episode that he loves Mer how she is and for who she is, and I don't doubt that they are right for each other now. I kind of hope we get a wedding this season.
4. Owen and Christina's relationship continues to fascinate me. I loved that he apologized to her for showing up drunk for their date. I loved that he asked for another chance to make it right, and mostly I am glad that she is giving it to him. They both know that he's got issues, but it seems like they are taking the mature route with each other and trying to go forward in spite of them.
5. Meredith and Christina made up in a way that was right for them, not obvious and cheesy, and just perfect for their relationship.
6. The last scene with Mark and Lexie. I loved her crawling into bed to stroke his hair and comfort him, and I like that he let her.
Things I Didn't Like
1. Mostly the Mark broken penis story fell flat for me. I thought it was silly and out of place in this episode that was very heavy on the drama.
2. Too much Denny. I am glad we found out what is going on with Izzy and got some movement there, but still I felt like it was the Denny show for much of the episode and I'm tired of him and ready to move on. I'm happy it seems to be heading in that direction.
3. The interns. Still too much of them for my taste. Just get rid of them altogether. The were in the episode in places where I would have rather seen Callie or Alex or George. I hate that they are taking up the screen time of my faves.
4. Sadie. Why is she here again?
5. Bailey. I have really disliked Bailey in this Jackson story. While I sort of understood where she was coming from, I didn't approve of her busting into Derek's operating room and the whole scene there. The Bailey that I know, emotionally involved with a patient or not, knows there is a line not to cross and I think she went way, way too far. I just think she has been written really out of character the last few episodes and I hope the Bailey that I love is back soon before the writers completely assasinate her character.
6. What has happened to George? He is just basically a bit player. If he isn't going to play any larger role on the show, just get rid of him. I hate seeing him flounder.
Things I Just Didn't Care About
1. Izzy. I am glad that we got some idea of what is going on with her, and Katherine Heigl was good in her scenes, but when it was all said and done I just didn't care. When is she going to die again?
2. The Chief. I'm not sure when it happened but I have really stopped caring if I see him in the episode or not.

Sympathy for the Devil: Grey's Wrap
Definitely better than last week! One of the reasons that I didn't write the wrap last week, aside from personal stuff, was that it didn't really make me feel inspired to wrap it. It was just meh. This week was much better!
Things I Liked
1. Tyne Daly. I. Love. Her! Can she stay, please? She is perfect as Mama McDreamy. I like that she kept Daddy's ring because she knew that Addison wasn't the one for Derek, and I loved that she knew that Mer was. I liked her reasoning for Mark & Lexie being okay, and she's right. Mentally he is a horny 15 year old!
2. Alex wants to take Izzie to meet his mom. Awwww! Too bad she is a completely undeserving heifer! I did like the chemistry between him and Arizona on the plane though. Hopefully the writers will go in that direction after Izzie dies in a hail of gunfire.
3. Mark, Mark, Mark. I liked him with Mama McDreamy. I loved the scene with the interns. And I loved him telling Callie to stand tall. See, I keep trying to tell y'all that he really is a good guy! And did you see him without his shirt on? I liked him with Lexie, and I am glad to know how old she is and that she is old enough for him, but I have to admit that I did giggle a bit at the juice box thing!
4. Meredith and the Serial Killer guy. I liked their scene discussing the ways of death and her explaining the difference between hanging and lethal injection. I have to tell you that I cringed at the last scene of him banging his head. Ouch! Eric Stolz has been a great guest star in this role though and will probably get an Emmy nod.
5. Owen and Christina. The scene at the end was all kinds of awesome, though initially I was bothered that he showed up for the date drunk. But then he started rambling and I got it. The story he told her in the shower was heartbreaking. He's got a lot of layers and I'm very interested in Christina peeling them all back to show us the real Owen.
6. Arizona. Not sure why, because I feel like I should be finding her very annoying, but I like her.
Things I Didn't Like
1. The short guy/legs story. It felt out of place in this episode, and the guy was more than a little creepy.
2. Bailey. I can't believe I'm saying it but she is getting on my nerves. Her treatment of Arizona and how she is handling Jackson's case is wrong. She is too personally involved and not acting Bailey like at all.
3. The interns. Please Shonda, get rid of them. Aside from Lexie, they bring nothing to this show.
Things I Just Didn't Care About
1. Izzie and Denny. Izzie is a useless waste of air time as long as Denny is still on the scene. I think I'm just going to fast forward them until he is or they are gone.

Thankful Thursday
I haven't done one of these in awhile for many reasons, being busy, feeling blue, and generally having a hard time being thankful and optimistic, but I have decided to put on my big girl pants and try to push back the negatives in my life and be thankful for the good things that I do have. And YES, I do have many good things to be thankful for...
1. My job. More specifically "A" job. There has been some organizational restructuring in my company and I found out the day before my Christmas vacation that my boss of almost 13 years, who I love and adore, was "retiring". Many times when an executive leaves the company his staff is also let go. I was fortunate that another VP offered me a job on his staff so I am still gainfully employed. Is it the perfect job that I would have picked for myself? Probably not. But he's a generally decent guy and I have hope that it is going to work out for the best.
2. My new Blackberry Storm. A perk of the new job. Or maybe a consolation prize? Anyway who cares, it's so fun and cute and I don't have to pay for it!
3. My boys. I know that at the end of the day I get to go home to Ron and Cole and that makes it all okay.
4. Grey's Anatomy. My weekly escape. Yes I know last week was a new episode and I didn't do my wrap. For the whole two of you who actually care, I'm sorry I slacked off and I should be back with my regular wrap up either tomorrow or Saturday.

Lori's Favorite Things 2008
Last year when I began this blog one of my very first posts was my list of 2007 favorite things. In keeping with tradition (sort of!) I now present to you Lori's favorite things of 2008:
1. Nike Shox. One of my 2007 favorites has held up and makes this year's list too. I added 2 more pair to my collection this year and I have yet to find another athletic shoe that I love like I love my Shox. They are so comfortable and it doesn't hurt that they are cute too!

2. iPod Shuffle. I have one of the big, bulky 30G video iPod's but it was not convenient for exercising. Enter my nifty little shuffle and my favorite workout music is right at my finger tips in a nifty little package clipped right to my shirt.
3. Kate Somerville Exfolikate. Best facial care product EVAH! I have horrible skin, always have, but this miracle helps keep my skin looking the best it can. It sloughs off dead skin and leaves me with a healthy glow. Expensive yes, but a little goes a long way, and it's worth every penny!
4. Lucky Brand Jeans. Another carryover from 2007. I now don't wear any other brand and as long as these are made I never will.
5. The Couch-to-5K Running Plan. I have never been a runner. As a matter of fact I have always hated it and considered running a tool of the devil himself. Then an online friend, also a non-runner, mentioned that she was trying this program and having some success, so I thought why not? I will never be any sort of distance runner, but for my treadmill workouts I have learned to enjoy running. Most of all I have learned that running won't kill me. Who knew?!?
6. So You Think You Can Dance. I just discovered this show late in the summer of 2007 and didn't become truly addicted until 2008. I love Cat and I love that crazy Mary Murphy and I can't wait until the new season begins in June.
7. James Avery. The last carryover from 2007. I have had so much fun adding charms to my bracelet this year and expect that to continue on into 2009.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year to my few faithful blog friends! I know I've been an absent blogger lately but there has been some heavy stuff going down at work that I can't blog about but that has been consuming my thoughts. There is some resolution, possibly temporary but a resolution for now nonetheless. So as things settle down I hope to get back to my semi-regular blogging soon, because let's face it that is about as regularly as I blog.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Crackers
The Dallas Morning News recently held their annual holiday cookie contest, which is always filled with wonderful and different recipes. This one placed 2nd in the "easy" division, which is right up my alley! I am planning to do my holiday baking and put together friend and neighbor gifts tomorrow. I think these beauties will be a must! Easy and yummy, what better combination is there?
CHOCOLATE PEANUT-BUTTER CRACKERS
Optional decorations: Before cooling, sprinkle on chopped nuts, or melt white chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave and drizzle over cooled cookies.
CHOCOLATE PEANUT-BUTTER CRACKERS1 (18-ounce) jar peanut butter
1 (14.5-ounce) box Ritz brand crackers (you will use 48 crackers)
12 ounces chocolate-flavored almond bark (see note)
Chopped nuts, white chocolate chips to decorate (optional) Spread the peanut butter on 24 crackers. Top with the remaining 24 crackers, so you have 24 sandwiches.
Melt almond bark in a double boiler or on the stovetop over low heat.
Dip the peanut-butter cracker sandwiches into the melted chocolate and set on wax paper to cool.
Makes 24 cookies.
