Floor Progress Pictures

End of Day 2...This has been WAY more work than we anticipated. It ended up taking us most of yesterday to get the 25 square feet of ceramic tile that was in our entry up. And if anyone ever asks, getting tile up? SO MUCH HARDER than putting it down! I have aches in places I didn't even know I had, and I'm pretty sure I will never stand up straight again! But we made some progress getting the dining room done today. Now that we actually have some idea of what we are doing, we should be able to get the hallway and office done by next weekend, in time for the new carpet install on March 19.

2nd Degree Black Belt

Cole successfully tested for his recommended 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo tonight. A 9 year old 2nd degree. Not bad!!

I am a horrible mother and forgot to make sure the camera batteries were charged, so unfortunately I don't have any pictures to share, just this little logo from his school. But fortunately he isn't presented his new belt until he is confirmed as a decided 2nd degree black belt in May! I'll make sure the camera is charged that night. Way to go Cole man! Dad and I are so proud of your dedication to your sport and the hard work that you've put in the past 4 and a half years. You are the man!!

Thankful Thursday

I'm borrowing this idea from Tiburon. Reading her list always reminds me to be thankful for the good things in my life too! So for today I am thankful for...

1. Aleve. This week my body has been reminding me that it's getting older and doesn't take as kindly to the hard workouts. Aleve has been my saving grace!

2. Books. Books have brought me together with a wonderful group of ladies I might have otherwise never gotten to know and now I have a a whole new group of really fun friends!

3. The internet. I have discovered some really cool people on the internet. One of my closest friends lives in Chicago and I would have never known she even existed if the internet and iVillage hadn't brought us together.

4. My hubby. He is just a cool, fun guy. He drives me crazy a lot, but I know that he loves Cole and I and would do anything within his power to make us happy. I really felt the need to mention him this week since he is giving up his weekend to lay my floors. Thanks honey!

5. My laptop. It's been a wacky weather week here in Texas, snow on Tuesday and forecasted snow again tonight and tomorrow. Thanks to my trusty Dell though, if I get stuck at home -- because you know Texas totally shuts down if it snows!! -- I won't have to miss work. I am working on a huge project and any down time is a big deal, so if I can't make it in tomorrow I will still be able to work, just from the comfort of my home and in my jammies.

So what are you thankful for today? :)

Only In Texas

It was in the 70s on Saturday and Sunday and we were wearing shorts. This is the view out the front door this morning. Crazy!

Random Musings

I seem to do these posts better than any others. What does that say about the state of my mind?!?!

1. Had a fun weekend with my guys. Lots of togetherness and little bickering. I love when that happens. Having a husband who thinks like a child and an actual child can be trying at times. I find myself refereeing arguments about whose turn it is to play the PS3. I would imagine it's like that much of the time for you Mom's of more than one. I thought I would avoid situations like that by only having one child. Not so!

2. I have my new flooring "in" my house, but by in I mean still in 48 boxes stacked neatly (??) in the office. The ripping up of the carpet starts on Thursday and the floor starts going down on Saturday. We have until the 17th to get the wood down and the installers come to lay the new friese carpet. I am so excited to be getting rid of the old, yuck builder grade carpet. Thank you bosses for big, fat bonuses!

3. We are getting an unexpected vacation in the near future. Ron's best friend since high school called us this weekend to let us know that he's getting married. He wants Ron to be his best man and the wedding is going to be in New Mexico, either Santa Fe or Taos. Either is fine by me! Congratulations Clint & Joyce.

4. TAKS testing starts this week. For those of you not in Texas, this is the standardized testing that the public school children must take and pass at certain grade levels to move on to the next grade -- thank you NCLB. Cole has his first test this week, reading, and the poor guy is so nervous about it. He is a super smart boy and I know he's going to do fine. He has scored 100% on almost every practice test, but the teachers stress this test and put so much pressure on these little guys and it's just got him all in a tizzy because he's a worrier like his Mom. So if you are so inclined if you could keep a good thought or send up a little prayer for my little man on Wednesday it wouldn't be wasted. I think he is going to need it -- or a valium! :)
